George Town’s Community Compliance Officers have embarked on a significant mission to enhance the safety and accountability for dogs and community members alike.
As part of this endeavour, they are currently conducting spot checks across the municipality to identify unregistered dogs.
According to the Dog Control Act 2000, all dogs over six months of age must be registered and microchipped with Council, a crucial piece of legislation that underscores the responsibility shared by all pet owners.
Registering dogs isn’t just a bureaucratic formality, it’s a meaningful investment in the protection of pets. Registering your dog will provide Council with vital information to get in contact with you should your pet become lost, injured or involved in an incident.
