It’s been 12 months now since much loved Indian restaurant, Tassie Dhaba opened its doors to the people of Beaconsfield and the Tamar Valley. Just entering the building itself presents a real cultural experience with the beautiful décor and stylish arrangement of dining room furniture.
Perhaps best known for their superb naan bread, butter chicken and chicken tika masala, as co-owner Sassy explains, the philosophy behind the great food is less about spices and more about the flavours!
For this writer, who has a very ‘western palette’ the mild was a safe option, though medium or hot may not be too far away should a greater sense of adventure ensue!
With Head Chef and co-owner Mantek bringing a wealth of experience from working in high pressure big city restaurants and an equally talented assistant chef onsite, Tassie Dhaba certainly has the credentials to provide an incredible meal for you and your family or friends.
Tassie Dhaba offers a fully licenced bar serving a great selection of local wine and beers, with regular customers travelling from as far as Devonport and Launceston to enjoy the food and ambience.
On the topic of Beaconsfield, owner Sassy’s eyes lit up with a strong sense of affection.
‘It was a lifestyle decision to move here,’ she explains, ‘we lived and worked in Launceston for 5 years but fell in love with Beaconsfield and it’s strong sense of community. We are now locals ourselves and live in the town. We are here for the long run and have committed to a 5-year lease on the building.’
‘The locals have been very supportive and welcoming,’ she added.
