Tasmania Police, Transport Inspectors and National Heavy Vehicle Regulators conducted a joint operation on the East Tamar Highway today, focusing on heavy vehicle compliance and vehicle defects.
As a result of the operation:
- 46 vehicle defects were issued
- 10 infringement notices were issued for unregistered vehicle
- 2 people will be proceeding against for unlicensed driving
- 2 people were arrested for fail to appear warrants.
Tasmania Police said in a statement that these joint traffic operations show that both federal and state government are working together, taking road safety seriously and ensuring vehicles are compliant when travelling on our roads.
