The City of Launceston has opened bookings for the Myrtle Park Camping Ground for the summer season ahead, with the popular park set to open to campers from Thursday, September 1, until Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Bookings for camp sites are now open through the Launceston Visitor Information Centre and online via the City of Launceston website at launceston.tas.gov.au/MyrtlePark

Thirty campsites will be available to the public, with fifteen sites boasting river frontage.

The hall will be available for bookings, while day-use areas such as the tennis courts and the café, will also reopen.

Overnight camping fees at the site are $20 per campsite or $25 for a campsite with fire pit.

Fees are inclusive of two adults, while children 15 years of age and under stay free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

Extra adults incur a $5 per night charge and sites can accommodate a maximum of ten people.

  1. Will the Myrtle Park recreation area be open for daytime visits of up to a few hours? If so, will that be free, as previously? This wonderful facility should be open to all on this basis. The myrtle rainforest across the river is very rare in Northeast Tasmania, the St Patricks River pristine, from the mountains, and the grounds were wonderfully enjoyable for picnics for my disabled wife and me. The site is so spectacular, and has been a community asset.
